WHY I GUIDE?
Meaningful experiences in the outdoors change people.
Time in the mountains has been a source of strength throughout my life especially during moments that demanded resilience and perspective. Guiding allows me to share that grounding force with others in a way that’s intentional, supportive, and rooted in safety.
WHY THE ROCKIES?
The mountains are where I feel most alive! They’ve shaped how I see the world and how I connect with others. Whether I’m guiding in the field or teaching through photography, my goal is simple: help people connect more deeply with wild places and with themselves through curiosity, care and respect.
WHY PHOTOGRAPHY?
Through photography, I help people slow down, observe, and develop a deeper relationship with the natural world that they are a part of. Whether you’re new to the camera or refining your craft, my approach emphasizes observation, intention, and creative storytelling, to create meaningful and unforgettable experiences for every guest.
“The trail compels you to know yourself and to be yourself, and puts you in harmony with the universe. It makes you glad to be living. It gives health, hope, and courage…”
— Enos Mills

Forest is an outdoor guide and educator passionate about helping others connect more deeply with wild places. He has led glacier expeditions in Alaska, climbing trips in Utah, Virginia, and Maryland, and guided in Wrangell–St. Elias National Park, the largest national park in the United States. He is a registered EMT and certified Wilderness EMT, bringing a calm, prepared approach to safety in remote backcountry environments where advanced medical care is often far away.
In addition to guiding, Forest has a strong background in photography. He was part of the launch campaigns for Nikon’s Z8 and Z9 and has co-led photography workshops and trips with his wife, photographer Kristi Odom. His blend of field experience, backcountry safety training, and creative storytelling helps shape experiences that are both meaningful and memorable.
Forest’s deep knowledge of Rocky Mountain National Park from its alpine landscapes and towering peaks to its diverse ecosystems enriches every trip with insight into the area’s natural history.
Above all, Forest is committed to the safety, comfort, and experience of his guests. His time spent working in a coffee shop means you can also expect a warm, welcoming atmosphere and, occasionally, a great cup of coffee along the way. Rocky Mountain National Park is his favorite U.S. national park, and that passion shines through in every tour he leads. Whether you’re seeking adventure or a deeper connection to nature, Forest brings experience, care, and genuine hospitality to every day in the field.
